Dale E. Hicks

	Dale E. Hicks, age 77, of Pinckneyville, died Monday, August 28, 2000 at 2:10 a.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
	Dale was born in Pinckneyville on August 27, 1923, the son of Guy William and Mildred M. (Denman) Hicks.  During his lifetime he served with the U.S. Army prior to a medical discharge.  He married Nadine Shute on February 24, 1944 in Granite City and she survives.  He was an operating engineer with Local 520 until 1964 when  he opened Hicks Trading Station in Pinckneyville.  He was a member of Red Hawk Country Club in Pinckneyville and had been an avid golfer for over 35 years, having played up until four months ago.
	Dale was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He is survived by his wife:  Nadine of Pinckneyville, Two sons, Donald D. Hicks and his wife, Sarah, and Kevin Hicks and his wife, Rhonda, all of Pinckneyville, six grandchildren: Donna Long and her husbnd, Scott, Travis Hicks and his wife, Amanda, Bryce Hicks and his wife, Becky, Haven Hicks and Hayden Hicks, six great-grandchildren:  Daphne and Skyler Graskewicz, Nicholas McKinstry, Amanda and Brandon Long, and Trenton Hicks.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers:  Donald and Jimmy and two sisters:  Dorothy Yearian and Irene Leslie.
	Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 30 in the Pyatt-harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Greg Maize officiating.
	Friends were able to call at the Pyatt-harrawood Funeral Home on Wednesday from 8 until 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Perry County.
	Following cremation, interment of the cremains was at a later date.
